Like I’ve told you before, I collect the interesting articles I find on the internet. I store them in categories on the social bookmarking website Diigo. Diigo is very much comparable with Del.icio.us but has proven to be a bit more reliable and has some added functionality like marking and anotating pieces of websites. I share my findings with whomever wants to read them, through Friendfeed and my self-made Linkfilter page that you can access through the button up on my weblog and as a tab on my Netvibes Universe. I would like to mention some interesting things.

In Google Reader I have shared the report of Robert Scoble on his trip to China. He was there to visit a big blogger conference and of course to just have a look at the country and comment it in his own way on interesting (tech) developments. What I found especially interesting was the explanation of current product development in China. They have made a shift from being a standard “cloner” to having a very innovative economy. Products and services are being developed and made within a couple of days.

One of the applications that I’m trying out this week is Tweetdeck. It can be found in my link category “Twitter”. It’s a desktop application for sending and receiving twitter messages. It’s made for Adobe AIR, so it’s for multiple platforms. Tweetdeck’s special feature is that you can fill several columns at your own will. There is one column for all the tweets of the people you follow and then you can have columns for your replies, direct messages, but also groups. This allows me to follow a lot more people and make a group of the people you really don’t want to miss anything of. very similar to Friendfeed’s lists. You can also make columns for search terms. This is a very useful app and provides some real oversight.

Another application on the try-outlist is Nimbuzz. This instant messages program (like MSN) combines a couple of networks. I momentarily am using MSN Live, Google Talk and the Hyves Kwekker (a myspace clone). Did you know that with GTalk you can chat with anybody who has his Gmail inbox open? (Wink wink, that means you can chat on places where MSN isn’t available). Unfortunately the desktop client doesn’t support Skype for technical reasons, but the mobile client, which also looks promising, does.

Columnist of the New York Times Thomas Friedmann writes a great piece about the credit crisis. He shortly and clearly addresses the causes in the US about how it has come this far. He is a well known thinker, writer and columnist and has won many Pulitzer prizes.

Diigo is heel erg vergelijkbaar met Del.icio.us, maar is voor mij iets betrouwbaarder gebleken en heeft wat extra functies zoals het markeren en opslaan van tekst. Mijn vondsten deel ik dan weer met wie ze maar wil lezen, via Friendfeed en via mijn zelfgemaakte Linkfilter pagina die je op deze website kunt vinden via de Linkfilter button hierboven en als tabblad op m’n Netvibes pagina. Ik zou hier graag een paar interessante dingen eruit vissen om nog een extra onder de aandacht te brengen.

Hij was daar om een grote bloggerconferentie bij te wonen en natuurlijk het land te bekijken en op zijn eigen wijze commentaar te geven op interessante (tech) ontwikkelingen. Wat ik vooral erg interessant vond was de beschrijving van productontwikkeling tegenwoordig in China. Het land is van standaard “cloner” gegaan naar een zeer innovatieve industrie. Producten en diensten worden binnen enkele dagen bedacht en geproduceerd.

Een van de applicaties die ik deze week voor het eerst uitprobeer is Tweetdeck. Te vinden in mijn link categorie “Twitter”. Het is een desktop applicatie om twitter berichten mee te versturen en ontvangen. Het is gemaakt voor Adobe AIR en kan dus op meerdere platformen draaien. Bijzonder aan Tweetdeck is dat je verschillende columns hebt die je naar eigen inzicht kunnen invullen. Je hebt 1 column voor alle tweets en verder kun je plek inruimen voor je replies en direct messages, maar ook groepen maken. Dit stelt mij in staat veel meer mensen te gaan volgen en gewoon die mensen waar je geen bericht van wilt missen in een “favorites” groep te plaatsen. Ook kun je columns maken voor zoekopdrachten. Handig handig, zorgt echt voor overzicht.

Een andere applicatie op de probeerlijst is Nimbuzz. Dit Instant Messaging (zoals MSN) programma combineert een aantal netwerken. Ik heb momenteel MSN, Google Talk en de Hyves Kwekker gecombineerd. Wist je dat je via GTalk met iedereen kunt chatten die z’n Gmail pagina open heeft staan? (Wink wink, je kunt dus ook chatten op plekken waar je geen MSN hebt)

Columnist van de New York times Thomas Friedmann schrijft een helder stuk over de kredietcrisis. Hij gaat kort in op de oorzaken, met name hoe het in Amerika zover heeft kunnen komen. Hij is een veelgeprezen economisch denker en columnist en heeft al veel Pulitzer prijzen gewonnen.
